SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center’s Refirme Treatment

The Spa Wellness is one of my top three favorite spots to go to when I need a lush comfortable almost foolproof massage. Last Saturday, I head to their Fort branch but instead of a relaxing massage, I visited their SKIN clinic. With its award-winning pampering excellence and rejuvenation at its belt, The Spa Wellness has evolved its services with the opening of SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center.

Upon entering SKIN, you’ll feel instantly welcomed by its calming interiors and genuinely smiling receptionists. I was 15 minutes early for my 12nn appointment, thank goodness for easy parking during weekends. I was ushered to one of the rooms where I changed into the robe and relaxed my back on the reclining chair, sipping on The Spa’s signature ginger tea.

SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center offers several skin and body services that use state-of-the-art technology, under the care of certified dermatologists in a luxuriously relaxing spa setting. While I wanted to try their Signature Skin Facial for deep cleansing, mild peel and facial massage to nourish my skin, I veered towards something more forward. Refirme. Suitable for my age if I’m trying to keep the concept of “30s as the new 20s.”

Refirme is a skin tightening procedure, via wrinkle reduction. It is non-invasive and with almost no downtime at all. Refirme features revolutionary elos technology to comfortably achieve a more youthful, tightened and toned appearance.

We all age, we cannot reverse the clock, but we can definitely take care of ourselves better to slow down ageing. Our skin becomes a little looser as we age, especially when we can’t find time to work out and tone. Getting rid of the extra flabs and slight sagginess can erase the signs of facial aging. Of course, I bombarded my dermatologist, who attended to me that day and did the procedure herself, many questions regarding Refirme and skin questions. We all need to hear it from the expert.

What Refirme does in my layman understanding is it breaks down the old collagen on our facial dermis so our natural body can start stimulating new collagens, which in turn restore that tight youthful look. This aids in smoothening out lines and breaks the start of wrinkles. It is non-invasive and also non-surgical for those who are afraid of needles. A cold gel, watch out since it is startling cold, will be applied generously on the area. Then a handheld device is pressed against your skin and a flash of light snaps like taking a picture of your face’s surface. An amount of heat passes through from the laser beam to your epidermis and then it does its work.

It’s painless except for 1 or 2 quick light heat you feel at one point due to the infrared. It’s supposed to be one of the safest anti-aging therapy for your skin that tightens the skin and enhances facial shaping. The Refirme session took 45minutes to complete and I almost fell asleep halfway through the treatment.

I wasn’t expecting to feel any difference since it is expected to be a cumulative progress, which is done once a month with a standard number of 5-6 treatment sessions before visibly seeing the entire difference. I was a bit surprised to feel tightening around my cheeks area after the procedure and it looked like I lost weight.

That’s what I looked like the whole day and I was happy. I didn’t work out for 12 days and I’ve been eating like a pauper who just won the lottery and it visibly showed on my chunky face. I easily get plumped in the tummy and face area… and hips, when I eat waaaay more than the calories I burn. I’m glad though that I have skinny arms / limbs which help camouflage other parts. Other folks have mostly their arms as their problem.
